Keep with the theme of your place

This does not necessarily mean that you have to carry a beach theme throughout your beach condo. However definitely make sure that you are at least carrying the same theme throughout a room.

If you are in a rural setting surrounded by dirt or snow, think about how light colors will look over time. Definitely consider the placement of rugs or mats.
